Karen Harriger Currie

Karen Currie's practice involves a wide range of tax matters. While her roots are in multistate taxation, she currently represents clients on myriad tax issues including corporate taxation; M&A; unitary, consolidated, and combined reporting; nexus; apportionment; and related controversy and compliance matters.

Karen provides sophisticated tax planning and strategic advice on diligence issues, taxability, and structuring for more than 80 transactions each year, including numerous high-profile matters such as Procter & Gamble's sale of Duracell for $4.7 billion and OGE Energy's formation of an $11 billion master limited partnership. She regularly consults with businesses to determine the most tax efficient manner to operate or organize business activities and advises on fundamental compliance issues. When litigation ensues, Karen assists clients with federal, state, and local income; franchise; sales; and other tax audits and controversy matters. She has extensive experience working with the various taxing authorities and has been successful in negotiating beneficial settlements and obtaining key rulings for her clients. [1]
