Kathy Lazar has extensive experience in the areas of employee benefits and deferred compensation plans. She has counseled clients in all aspects of qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, welfare benefit plans, and compensation arrangements, including the employee benefit aspects of corporate acquisitions, mergers, and dispositions. She also has helped clients identify and correct plan qualification defects, and, where appropriate, has negotiated with the IRS with respect to the correction of such defects.Prior to joining Jones Day, Kathy was senior counsel for TRW Inc., a global corporation formerly headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. In that role she advised all levels of HR personnel on the implementation, administration, investment, amendment, and termination of benefit plans for TRW and its business units, including the integration of benefit plans following several major corporate acquisitions. She also provided employee benefit guidance on acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and other business transactions for TRW and its affiliated companies.
