Krista S. Schwartz

Krista Schwartz is a trial lawyer who focuses on high-tech patent and copyright litigation. She has successfully tried both patent and copyright infringement cases to verdict.

In a software copyright case arising from a competitor's use of client Synopsys' command set in the competitor's software product, Krista led the case from filing of the complaint through trial. The court found the Synopsys' command set to be copyrightable and the jury found copyright infringement, rejecting the defendant's fair use defense and awarding Synopsys over $30 million. In a bet-the-company patent case that Krista tried, the jury found no infringement of one patent and awarded minimal damages, while the invalidity case provided a simple design-around that withstood a contempt challenge.
