Made from thirty year old vines, Grand Mouton's second wine is very fresh, but also fairly soft. It has the musky character typical of old vines grown on siliceous rock and pairs beautifully with starters, fish pt, and goat's cheese. ON THE NOSE: This wine opens with citrus blossom, nutty almond vanilla from the barrel, coastal sea breeze, honey, lemon blossom. As it opens up, it reveals Bartlett pear, blood orange, apricot and white peach. ON THE PALATE: Flavors echo the nose, with flavors of fresh apricot, pear, white peach, and citrus zest making the most pronounced appearance. [+]
