Louis Trotta

Louis Trotta is counsel in the New York office of Latham & Watkins. Mr. Trotta is a member of the Corporate Department and the Financial Institutions Industry Group.

Mr. Trotta has more than 20 years of in-house experience advising global banks in a range of technology transactions, outsourcing, intellectual property and data security matters. He has broad international experience, including working with local counsel in London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Brazil and other jurisdictions. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Trotta was vice president and associate general counsel in Goldman Sachs’ Legal Department where he managed the firm’s Technology, Intellectual Property and Contracts (Americas) Practice Group. In this capacity, Mr. Trotta structured and negotiated a range of agreements, including technology vendor services, outsourcing, electronic trading platform participation and derivatives index licenses. He also worked closely with the firm’s chief privacy counsel on matters of data security.

Mr. Trotta also served as vice president and counsel at Citigroup, where he focused on technology contracts and intellectual property matters, after beginning his career as a commercial and criminal defense litigator.
