Marc F-X Groebl

Marc Groebl works primarily in the field of intellectual property focusing on brand protection. He has experience prosecuting and litigating intellectual property law matters, including in the context of cross-border litigation, and provides strategic legal advice to large corporations regarding trademark, unfair trade practices, copyright law, and Internet domain portfolios.

Prior to and since joining Jones Day in 2011, Marc represented many international companies, such as a U.S. fashion company in court and administrative proceedings and settlement negotiations regarding the introduction of a new label in Germany, and in the opening of their flagship stores; Procter & Gamble in a cross-border community design infringement matter against a Swiss white label producer, as well as a patent and trademark infringement scam in Russia (Gillette Division); MGM Grand Hotel in a preliminary injunction suit regarding trademark infringement and domain grabbing of the name "Studio 54"; Bauer Verlagsgruppe, Germany's largest publishing house, in a trademark infringement suit regarding the Bild tabloid; Red Bull GmbH in a bad faith trademark application; Schwartauer Werke, a food producer, in one of the first German trademark infringement suits based on mere color marks; and a French luxury label conglomerate in the planned acquisition of a worldwide trademark portfolio.
