Matthew J. Silveira

Matt Silveira focuses his practice on appellate litigation, motion practice, and legal strategy in complex civil litigation. He has experience in a wide range of substantive legal areas, including antitrust, labor and employment, structured finance, product liability, and insurance, with an emphasis on intellectual property.

Matt has briefed numerous appeals and petitions before federal and state appellate courts and has argued before the Ninth Circuit and the California Court of Appeal. He has written trial court briefs resulting in victories on summary judgment, at the dismissal stage, and in connection with requests for injunctive relief. Recent engagements include: advising on legal and motion strategy in copyright and patent infringement trials resulting in verdicts for our clients; obtaining affirmance of a summary judgment of non-infringement in a patent action; obtaining affirmance of an order striking tort claims against a major bank client on anti-SLAPP grounds; and obtaining reversal of an order denying a major homebuilder's petition to compel arbitration.
