Matthew Rawlinson

Matt Rawlinson is a trial lawyer in the Silicon Valley office of Latham & Watkins, and a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property and Securities Litigation Practices. He is currently the Litigation & Trial Department Chair of the Silicon Valley office and is its former Managing Partner.

In the last several years, Mr. Rawlinson has served as successful trial counsel in more than half a dozen matters, defeating asserted claims well in excess of US$3 billion. He has tried cases in federal and state court in California, Delaware and before arbitrators throughout the country. His victories include the 2014 “Top Defense Verdict” in an insider trading jury trial versus the SEC and the 2010 “Top Defense Verdict” in a high-profile trade secret jury trial.

Mr. Rawlinson has extensive experience litigating technology cases of all kinds, including claims involving complex commercial and contract cases, trade secrets and patents. He has represented clients in the biotech, semiconductor, software and medical device industries.

Mr. Rawlinson joined Latham in 1997 after completing a judicial clerkship for the Honorable James B. Loken, United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He has been named a Northern California Super Lawyer in Intellectual Property by Law & Politics Magazine.
