McHugh (Donegal, Ireland) and Devine (New City, New York) met in early 2014 at a West Coast Songwriters competition in San Francisco, CA. Both new to the scene at the time, they decided to combine forces and begin writing songs together. Fast forward almost two years later and you can find McHugh & Devine touring throughout the West Coast as a 4-piece band to support their self-produced EP titled The Movie Blues.
Constantly genre hopping, the band’s live show is captivating. And it all stems from the duo’s synergy. While Devine leads the way with strong lead vocals and rhythm guitar, McHugh carries the band as he switches instruments nearly every song and adds spot-on vocal harmonies. Add in Tim Connor's stylish drums and third-part vocal harmonies. Then layer Sam Miller's jazzy bass. What you get is a contagious mix of positive energy and originality. Rock N’ Roll, Americana, Pop, Bluegrass, Country, and Folk… that’s McHugh & Devine. It’s twenty-something folk/rock with a nostalgic twist.
McHugh & Devine just placed 2nd in the 2015 West Coast Songwriters International Song Contest for their single “Flame”. [+]
