Michael Legg

Michael Legg's practice focuses on class actions, regulatory proceedings, and complex commercial disputes. He is also an associate professor at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, where he teaches civil procedure, ADR, and complex regulatory and civil litigation.

Prior to joining Jones Day in 2013, Michael worked at leading Australian and U.S. law firms where he represented an airline in multi-respondent Federal Court of Australia class actions brought by travel agents based on allegations of misleading conduct and breach of contract; represented a bank and a financial services company in Federal Court of Australia class actions brought by investors in financial products; acted in the successful defense of a Fortune 500 company facing novel class actions in the U.S. state courts of West Virginia and Texas; acted for one of the Big 4 audit firms in auditor liability litigation and class actions in the federal courts of New York and California; advised institutional investors on participating in shareholder class actions and litigation funding arrangements; advised on compliance with the Australian Corporations Act including directors' duties, continuous disclosure, accounting, and auditing requirements; represented clients in Australian Securities and Investment Commission investigations; and defended cartel proceedings brought by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
