It is often said that in today’s music industry, it takes a dream and one hundred thousand dollars to break a new artist. But Maryville, MO native, Mitch Gallagher, is proving that sometimes there is just no substitute for hard work. With his blue-collar work ethic and unique voice, the young independent singer/songwriter is quickly beginning to turn heads in Nashville after recently being accepted as a Recording Artist Member of the Country Music Association (CMA).
Shortly after moving to Nashville in the fall of 2010, Gallagher began recording YouTube covers in his dorm room at Middle Tennessee State University. Balancing his time between class, work, and personally managing his music career, it didn’t take long before Mitch began to develop a loyal social media following, and amass over 300,000 YouTube views!
With his growing fan base clamoring for original music, Mitch decided to record and release two radio singles “Meant for Coming Back” and “Just Like Heaven”; both of which gained him attention from numerous radio stations across the Midwest. Fast forward to January of 2013, and both singles were part of his debut five song EP “Mitch Gallagher EP” which climbed the charts all the way to #46 on the iTunes Top 200 Country Albums Chart.
With his recent chart success, Mitch drew the attention of Liz Gregory and signed with Liz Gregory Talent & Booking; one of Nashville’s most respected booking agencies. Soon afterwards, Mitch began writing and working on his second EP “Where the Heart Is” which was released in March of 2014. “Where the Heart Is” built on the success of his previous EP by quickly climbing the charts to #41 on the iTunes Top 200 Country Albums Charts. “Where the Heart Is” also landed at #8 on the Billboard Heatseekers ‘West North Central Albums chart’; which recognizes the highest selling albums just outside the Top 200 albums in the country!
In what is considered a “ten year” town, Mitch is quickly proving the dream is still alive and well in Nashville, and that he is an up and coming force in Country Music. [+]
