Monica Klosterman is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Latham & Watkins. Her practice focuses on environmental litigation and toxic torts, but also includes a broad range of complex commercial litigation matters.
Ms. Klosterman advises on environmental litigation matters, including actions involving CERCLA cost allocation and recovery, mass torts, and alleged exposure to various chemicals and heavy metals. Ms. Klosterman has also advised on matters related to consumer protection and false advertising, contractual disputes, antitrust and unfair competition. Ms. Klosterman has further worked on a variety of pro bono cases in the context of special education, foster care benefits, civil rights, housing and immigration law.
Ms. Klosterman has experience managing litigation matters, including class actions, multi-district litigation and complex litigation matters. Ms. Klosterman has participated in many successful case dispositive motions and has extensive experience managing discovery in such matters.
During law school, Ms. Klosterman served as Managing Editor of the Journal of Law Reform and authored a published article (as Monica Costello) entitled "Systemic Compliance Complaints: Making IDEA's Enforcement Provisions A Reality." Ms. Klosterman was also the recipient of the Jane L. Mixer Memorial Award recognizing contributions to the cause of social justice and the Carl Gussin Memorial Prize honoring excellence in the area of trial work.
