Nozomi Oda is an associate of Latham & Watkins Gaikokuho Joint Enterprise in Tokyo. Ms. Oda’s practice focuses on capital markets transactions and cross-border M&A, encompassing public and private negotiated acquisitions, tender offers, joint ventures, and unsolicited bids and takeover defense.
Ms. Oda has advised on securities regulations, financial regulations, antitrust matters, intellectual property and pharmaceutical affairs. Prior to joining Latham, Ms. Oda served as a senior associate in the M&A and general corporate practice group at one of the leading Japanese law firms. From 2009 to 2011, Ms. Oda was seconded to the Financial Services Agency of Japan (FSA) as a deputy director of the Corporate Disclosure Department. At the FSA, Ms. Oda worked closely with high level government officials and played a key role in various amendments to the securities regulations of Japan and discussions with overseas regulators, including the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Ms. Oda is admitted to practice in Japan and New York and is a member of the Daiichi Tokyo Bar Association.
