Of the Painted Choir is the musical project of Frederick Huang. It borders between Folk, Alt-Country, and Indie Rock. His songs are heavily influenced by his experiences in Arizona and draw inspiration from the musical culture of the Southwest and 60's popular music. With expressive vocal melodies and familiar, yet distinctively unique instrumentation, Of the Painted Choir pays homage to Country-Western and vintage Rock & Roll artists while blending in subtle Asian melodic characteristics. The band consists of Darren Simoes on guitar (formerly of The Bled/Dead Western Plains), Phillip Hanna on keys & vocals (formerly of Tug Boat/Kinch), and John Blades on drums (formerly of Dorsey).
