Outliar | Wiki | Everipedia, the encyclopedia of everything

Outliar is a band of five friends from the San Fernando Valley in Southern California and was founded in 2009, marked by the release of their first six-song EP, and since then have made a full length CD titled "In The Open". The five members of Outliar all grew up within a few miles of each other and came together through a shared desire to make sense of the cultural mish-mash of the Valley through music. As a result, Outliar's sound is eclectic, bringing older themes from Motown, R&B, and Jazz into close contact with more modern rock, latin, and hip-hop styles. This amalgamation of genres (which Outliar has dubbed "The Valley Sound" to reflect the melting pot of the San Fernando Valley) has resulted in a fresh and well-rounded sound that is grounded in time-tested musical traditions. Outliar's members are James Ghaleb (lead singer, guitarist, and songwriter), Brian Zaghi (bassist), Ian Meltzer (drummer), Nick Depsky (pianist), and Eddie Smith (rapper and percussionist). Though officially a five-piece band, they often include small horn sections in their live shows and recordings. Simply put, Outliar is a band dedicated to strong songwriting, real musicianship, genuinely enjoyable performances, and sharing their music with anyone who cares to listen! [+]
