Owl Ridge 2012 Syrah Russian River Valley

The climate in the Russian River Valley is similar to that of the northern Rhone Valley of France, Syrah’s ancestral home, and as such, the Russian River Valley’s wines are stylistically similar to the wines from this famed wine growing region. Intensely dark ruby in color, the Owl Ridge 2012 Syrah offers layered aromas of plum, dark berry, black currants, and spice with hints of vanilla - a testament to its aging in premium French oak barrels. The mouthfeel is rich and softly tannic with flavors of more dark berry, leather and nuanced black pepper, a product of the grapes being fermented as whole clusters. The nicely defined tannins give way to a complex and almost smoky finish that lends this wine to pair effortlessly with grilled meats. [+]
