Patience Ren is an associate in the Silicon Valley office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm's Litigation & Trial Department. Ms. Ren’s practice focuses on complex patent disputes encompassing a range of industries including clean energy and mobile device technologies. Prior to joining Latham, Ms. Ren worked at an international law firm where her experience extended to all aspects of intellectual property litigation.
Ms. Ren received her JD from University of California, Hastings, where she was the senior technology editor for the Hastings Law Journal. While in law school, Ms. Ren was a judicial extern for the Hon. Alex Kozinski on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Pasadena, as well as for the Hon. Elizabeth Laporte on the Northern District of California, San Francisco. Ms. Ren received her PhD in Biological Sciences from Stanford and her BA in Molecular & Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to law school, Ms. Ren worked as a patent agent, where she drafted patent applications, responses and briefs to procure patent rights in areas including array technology, enzyme engineering, molecular biology and bioinformatics.
