PlumpJack 2009 Syrah Atlas Peak / Carneros

For the 2009 Syrah, PlumpJack Winery had the fortune to source fruit from two premier Napa Valley vineyards for this wonderful variety: Jan Krupp’s Stagecoach Vineyards on Atlas Peak and Lee Hudson’s Henry Drive Vineyard in Carneros. As with most PlumpJack wines, these highly anticipated bottlings sell out shortly after release and typically prior to receiving word on accolades. The 2009 Syrah is one such case, and with a legacy of 92+ rated vintages since 2004, we knew we had to grab this wine before it was no longer available at the winery. The 2009 PlumpJack Syrah is the most Northern Rhône-like Syrah the winery has yet crafted. In the nose, aromas of white pepper, smoked meat, olive tapenade and baked plums come alive. Flavors of five spice, cardamom, star anise, vanilla, and boysenberry coat the palate, and on the finish it shows more lushness than the previous vintages, but sill boasts the structure to age over the next 5 to 7 years. A simply beautiful wine you are certain to enjoy! We are fortunate to have secured a small allocation for our Platinum Plus! Members while we had the chance. So, get it while you can! [+]
