Quivira Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Founded in 1981, Quivira Vineyards is a small, family owned winery located in Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley. Owner Pete Kight purchased the property from Henry and Holly Wendt in 2006. Winemaker Hugh Chappelle began his career in California and honed his skills Piper-Sonoma and Madrona Vineyards. Pete and Hugh aim for balance and elegance in their wines. The estate comprises four vineyards within the Dry Creek Valley Wine Creek Ranch, Goat Trek Vineyard, Katz/Absner Ranch and Anderson Ranch, with 93 acres planted to vines. In addition to Zinfandel and Sauvignon Blanc, they grow several Rhone varieties and small amounts Counoise and Montepulciano. The estate vineyards are organic, and Quivira was certified biodynamic in 2005 by Demeter, the sole US biodynamic certification agent. [+]
