Respite Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Respite Wines is owned by Corinne and Charles Reichel. Their 20 acre Reichel Vineyard is located in the Alexander Valley facing south at an elevation of 2,400 to 2,600 feet. The vineyard was originally planted in 1985; 40% of it was replanted in recent years. The owners’ son Leland, has a Bachelor’s of Science in Wine & Viticulture and assists in the vineyard, sharing his knowledge of both new and traditional viticultural practices. The wines are crafted by May-Britt and Denis Malbec. Denis was born on the property of Chateau Latour in Pauillac and was winemaker there from 1994 until 1999, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather who preceded him there. May-Britt began her wine industry career in Sweden and in 1992 she won the award for Best Sommelier in the Nordic Countries. Denis and May-Britt have created a wine that showcases the property’s unique mountaintop fruit while giving it an elegant Bordeaux flair. [+]
