Rita Motta is an associate in the Brussels office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s global Antitrust & Competition Practice. Her practice focuses on a range of issues under EU competition law including international cartel investigations, merger control, abuse of dominance investigations and state aid.
Ms. Motta has vast experience in representing clients in complex multijurisdictional cartel investigations. She was actively involved in the first settlement procedure of the European Commission in a cartel matter. She also regularly represents clients in multijurisdictional merger filings and advises clients on the implementation of antitrust compliance programs. Ms. Motta’s practice covers a range of business sectors, including the automotive, energy, internet and digital media, information technology and telecommunications industries. In the energy sector, Ms. Motta has particular experience in antitrust and state aid investigations, including abuse of dominance cases.
Ms. Motta’s practice also covers cartel investigations and merger control in Latin American countries, notably in Brazil. Prior to joining Latham & Watkins, Ms. Motta worked for leading law firms in São Paulo.
Her publications cover a wide range of competition law issues in the EU and Latin America.
