Royal Holland is a singer-songwriter from Cincinnati, Ohio, playing original indie folk rock songs about love and loss since late 2013. He’s desperate to create elaborate, visceral, truthful musical stories in every new song. He stands upon the shoulders of his heroes of the art form; Leonard Cohen, Elliot Smith, Jeff Mangum, Jason Lytle, Suzanne Vega and Mac McCaughin among many others and draws inspiration from the terribly beautiful and wonderfully horrible events of daily mundane life. He wants us all to feel beautiful and free.
In previous projects he has shared the stage with the the likes of Smoking Popes, Say Hi, Electropop, Natalie Portman's Shaved Head, We Are Hex, and Stardeath & White Dwarves and has been described in the press as "one of the best rock lyricists in town," (Cincinnati CityBeat) and having "a manifest talent for crafting memorable riffs" (Tiny Mix Tapes).
He is currently recording and producing an initial 4 song EP and is planning a summer tour to support the release. His future plans are to create 3 more of these self-recorded EPs, releasing each on CD and tape, free for the world to hear, then release all three in a one collection on vinyl. He is also writing a new concept album about life and death which will follow shortly after. [+]
