Russel Blake: Concert Soloist/Teaching Artist/Composer/Producer/Bassist has been performing professionally for the past four decades with demonstrated abilities in utilizing the Four String Electric Bass as a lead solo instrument in combining Melody, Harmony and Rhythmic accompaniment simultaneously. Mr. Blake has Performed/Toured/Taught in 73 countries on four continents. As a concert soloist he currently has a repertoire of 435 pieces ranging in a variety of composers from Mozart to Mancini, Beethoven to Cole Porter, Tchaikovsky to Stevie Wonder and Antonio Carlos Jobim to Johann Sebastian Bach.

His experience as a Bassist includes 5 years as exclusive Bassist with Sonny Rollins (world tours, two CD Recordings), Chaka Khan, Pharaoh Sanders, Gil Evans, Cybil Shepherd, Brenda Russell, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Broadway Plays DreamGirls-The Lion King-Motown The Musical, Melba Moore, Paquito D'Rivera, Michel Camillo, Hilton Ruiz, Machete & His Orchestra, Tramaine Hawkins, Mary Mary, Clark Terry, Mary Wells, Hugh Masakela, Harry Belafonte, Wynton Marsalis, Wallace Roney, T.S. Monk, Angie Stone, Nona Hendryx, Vanessa Bell Armstrong and many more.,

His experience as an educator includes but is not limited to: Adjunct Professor of Electrical Bass Studies at Georgia State University, Auburn University, The New School University in NYC, University of Wisconsin/Madison, LaGrange College, San Jacinto College & Nassau Community College. He has been contracted by the U.S. State Department to perform as an Ambassador of Goodwill to Eight West African Nations. He has also been contracted to Teach/Perform by the U.S. Defense Dept. Defense Advanced Research Agency. He is also a Recipient of The Kellogg Foundation's Prestigious Artist-In-Residency Award. Mr. Blake is currently a Music Producer of several musical projects. He has also been contracted by The State Of California to teach Music History and Culture to 5000 inmates at Ironwood State Prison in Southern California. [+]
