Ryan C. Thomas

Ryan Thomas concentrates his practice on all aspects of competition law, including mergers, civil nonmerger government investigations, cartel investigations, and pricing and distribution issues. He has represented clients in a variety of industries, including consumer goods, technology networking, semiconductors, medical devices, ophthalmic optics, healthcare cost management, pharmaceuticals, newspapers, chemicals, and building products.

In his transactional practice, Ryan represents buyers and sellers in domestic and cross-border transactions, providing advice on premerger planning, merger control filings, and "quick look" and extended government investigations. Recently, he represented STERIS in its acquisition of Synergy Health, as well as the company's successful defense against the FTC's effort to block the transaction in federal court (delivering the FTC its first litigation defeat in years). Other representative matters include: Hertz in its acquisition of Dollar Thrifty, SABMiller in its joint venture with Molson Coors, XM in its merger with Sirius, Endicia in its acquisition by Stamps.com, Polypore in its sale to Asahi Kasei, and Boca Pharmacal in its sale to Endo Health.
