Ryan Owens is a partner in the Litigation & Trial Department and currently serves on the firm's Ethics Committee. He is also a member of the firm's Intellectual Property Litigation and Technology Transactions Practices. Mr. Owens has litigated actions in the:
- Northern, Central and Southern Districts of California
- Southern District of New York
- Western District of Wisconsin
- Eastern District of Texas
- Districts of Delaware, Connecticut, Kansas and Massachusetts
Mr. Owens has experience in all stages of litigation from pre-suit investigations through appeal to the United States court of appeals for the federal circuit. He has been involved in successfully dismissing several cases against his clients and in obtaining summary judgments of non-infringement and invalidity.
Mr. Owens earned his law degree from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a senior article editor for the Berkeley Technology Law Journal and a member of boalt.org. For his extensive studies in the field of intellectual property law and technology, Mr. Owens was awarded the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology's Certificate in Law and Technology.
Mr. Owens is a member of the state bars of California and New York as well as the American Bar Association and American Intellectual Property Law Association. Mr. Owens is also a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE), and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He is admitted to practice before the central district of California, the United States court of appeals for the federal circuit, and the US patent and trademark Office.
