Saman Arbabi

Saman Arbabi is the co-creator and executive producer of Parazit, a weekly half-hour Persian-language satirical television show broadcast on Voice of America’s Persian service. An award-winning journalist based in Washington, D.C., Arbabi was born in Tehran, Iran in 1973 and moved first to France, then to the United States in 1985. His professional experience has taken him a large number of times to the Middle East, including assignments in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Israel, the West Bank, Syria, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. Arbabi has a BS degree in Mass Communications from University of Maryland University College. His hobbies are political cartoons and comedy. Arbabi grew up being a class clown, played varsity football, ran track, and raced around on BMX bikes. He entered the world of media in 1995 at age 21 when an ABC radio producer saw him cooking at Hooters.
