Sara Pikofsky has extensive experience with all phases of litigation focusing on violations of ERISA's fiduciary duty and prohibited transaction provisions. Sara's practice also includes matters involving Title IV of ERISA, including representation of the court-appointed section 1114 committee in the second US Airways' bankruptcy. Her experience covers matters at the trial and appellate levels, including having argued numerous appellate cases. In addition, Sara has represented independent fiduciaries appointed by the courts and by benefit plans in a variety of matters, including compliance with U.S. Department of Labor Prohibited Transaction Exemption 2003-39.Sara previously served as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of the Solicitor, Plan Benefits Security Division. In that capacity, she gained significant litigation experience in matters involving pension and welfare plans, including breach of fiduciary duty claims relating to investments in securities and real estate, among others.
