Scott P. Klein, a partner in the Los Angeles office of Latham & Watkins and the global Co-chair of the firm's Investment Funds Practice, focuses on private equity capital formation, the structuring of joint ventures and strategic alliances, and related transactions. Mr. Klein is also a member of the firm’s Finance Committee.
Mr. Klein regularly advises private equity sponsors globally in the organization, capital formation, negotiation and operation of private investment funds, including buyout, venture capital, energy, debt, real estate, hedge, emerging markets, workout, “special situation” and other funds. He also counsels fund sponsors in the strategic structuring of their internal organization and management. In addition to his work in private investment fund formation and organization, Mr. Klein has extensive experience in the strategic structuring of US and international vehicles through which fund sponsors operate and invest their funds, as well as in the formation and negotiation of other US and international joint ventures and strategic alliances.
As part of his practice, Mr. Klein advises private investment fund sponsors on a broad array of regulatory and compliance matters, including under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 and the Investment Company Act of 1940.
