Scratchdog Stringband

Masterfully mixing upright bass, fiddle, guitar and banjo with three-part vocal harmonies, Scratchdog Stringband has an innovative and dynamic approach to stringband music. This trio embraces its inherent bluegrass/Americana roots while seamlessly incorporating elements of jazz, country, rock, pop and blues, promising a groove-stompin', on-your-toes experience for audience and performers alike. Each a unique and expressive songwriter, Andrew DeRossett, Kimbo Slice and James Rossi unite one another's ideas into a fluid flow of concepts and emotions, and bring the result forth with raw passion.

Based in Portland, OR, Scratchdog Stringband moulds a new sound for a classic model, infusing favorite traditionals with fiery improvisation and fresh arrangements, as well as honoring American string band music with memorable new tunes - tunes like the breakneck, shoe-kickin' "No Woman" and the spirited anthem "Going for Broke," both off of the group's debut CD, "Introducing Scratchdog Stringband."

As individuals, the members of Scratchdog have been performing on all sides of the country in all styles of music (Celtic, Classical, reggae and hard rock, to name a few). As a group, these three mutts are now bringing their collective decades of experience to an enthusiastic American Northwest. A band honing its technical finesse through exuberant experimentation, Scratchdog Stringband is sure to thrill any audience.
