Silas Feemster

A lot of people play old time roots and folk music but few do it with such an accurate approach to sincerity such as Silas Feemster. His songs hark back to an era of wooden floors, antique doors, rotating 78's and ashes piling in the tray.

The self taught guitarist grew up in Beaumont Texas listening to recorded Wolf-Man Jack radio shows unknowingly while his father was introducing him to the catalogues of every Doo Wop and Rock & Roll act of the early and mid to late 1950's. But it wasn't till his father dusted off a few records from the attic and placed the needle on songs sung by names such as Lightnin' Hopkins, Bobby Blue Bland, Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker to really put his mind on the wonder. From there on out then it's been one long musical history lesson for Feemster.

Silas can be seen stomping anywhere from a late night dive to a downtown theater and resonate his audience just the same using an old 1960's Harmony guitar and a home made wine bottle neck creating his unique brand of Texas Blues.

With Two releases and countless performances, this Summer will hold a brand new release recorded in his home town of Beaumont and a featured spot on the Beaumont Blues Festival 2014.

Though quiet, thoughtful and humble Silas sings with such a boastful cry it will make the hair on the back of your neck rise. If given the chance to see Feemster in your favorite neighborhood beer shack, you'd think hell came to Sunday church service. [+]
