This duo met in Alaska and now call Scranton, PA. home. Award-winning songwriter, Kaylin Karr takes care of the guitar work and memorizes with her stunning vocals and Nathan Montella provides the percussion magic and backbeat to light up her music. Together, this duo blows audiences away with their undeniable talent, infectious melodies and an avalanche of soul-stirring lyrical creations and touching compositions that capture the listener.
This 5-track EP shows the versatility of these accomplished Indie musicians as they give something a little bit different in each tune. Their music can be described as a mixture of Indie Pop/Folk/Americana all neatly wrapped in one package. The EP opens with the title track, “Wildfire”, that has Kaylin projecting some powerful vocals in the mold of that European Indie vocalist, Elena Tonra from the band Daughter. “Until You're Kissing Me(Up Against A Wall)” comes at you with a mid-tempo rhythm, a simple acoustic guitar, and yes, those piercing vocals. “Can't Not Think Of You” reminds me a lot of Jewel in the way Kaylin projects and enunciates. “Give Me Love” has possibilities as a country ballad duet in the way its structured and composed. I would love to hear this with a lap steel and violin! “Cliche” has that bit of Lisa Loeb feel to it. The guitar work and backbeat is very simple, but has a nice complete sound!
I like the simplicity that is offered on this EP. The drum percussion and an acoustic guitar can do many different setups and give a different sound each time if done with proper care as was done on this effort. WELL DONE!! [+]
