Somerston Red Blend Stornoway 2012

In 2004, Allan Chapman purchased the 638 acre Priest Ranch property and combined the 990 acre Lynch Vineyards in early 2005. Founding member, Craig Becker is the director of winemaking and viticulture. The vineyards are located in eastern Napa County in hills ranging in elevation from about 850-2900 feet. The entire property combines the Lynch Valley Ranch with the Priest Vineyard. The 200 acres of sustainably farmed vineyards are divided into 87 individual blocks planted on various soils alluvial fans, silty clay and fractured shale, and Akin. Three distinct labels are found under the Somerston brand the Somerston which features high end wines, usually from single vineyard sources, Priest Ranch which features red wines only and Highflyer Wines which sources from vineyards throughout California. For years, the fruit from Somerston has been purchased by some of Napa Valleys most renowned winemakers including David Ramey, Heidi Barrett, and David Phinny, plus a handful of well-respected wineries Biale, Caymus, Duckhorn, Orin Swift, Pahlmeyer, and Viader.
