Sylvia Nichole Winston

Sylvia Nichole Winston is a litigator with broad experience in complex commercial litigation, including environmental, products liability, mass tort/toxic tort, and class action matters. She is experienced in various phases of civil litigation, including all aspects of discovery, expert work, motion practice, trial preparation, and settlement negotiations.

Prior to joining Jones Day in 2015, Sylvia practiced at an international law firm in Chicago, Illinois. During this time, she represented a major oil company in multidistrict litigation arising from the Deepwater Horizon incident in the Gulf of Mexico, a major oil company in multidistrict litigation brought by states and other municipalities seeking damages for groundwater contamination, a major automobile manufacturer in arbitrations in Illinois and Wisconsin, a major airline in its tax litigation against the state of Illinois, a reinsurance company in the bankruptcy proceedings of Lehman Brothers, and a major automobile manufacturer in a lawsuit brought by former employees alleging breach of contract and fraud, among other claims.
