Tailgate Clothing Co. began in the basement of Dennis Snyder—an engineer from Ames, Iowa. Dennis and his son Todd made shirts for college sports fans and sold them at the games from the back of Dennis’ car. In the beginning, neither of them thought that they were forming a company; they were just sharing their passion for collegiate sports with like-minded people.
What started as line of clothes for sports fans has grown into something more and Todd’s passions and affinities inspire brand as it is today. Over time, the goal of creating curated college wear grew into a passion for crafting clothes that show the story of America through its icons. Whether the design honors a favorite team, a beloved bar, or vacation spot, Tailgate celebrates the proud tradition of American design and innovation.
Todd went on to design men’s sportswear and outerwear for major America labels and retailers and now runs his own design label—devoting the same care and quality craftsmanship to his designs that he and his father put into their earliest T-shirt designs. Dennis could never have guessed that a business would grow from spending some quality time with his son, but out of that foundation a company was built that Dennis could be proud of. Tailgate customers wear these tees, hoodies, and sweatshirts with the same amount of pride the father-and-son team took in creating them. [+]
