The Celtic Cross

For the backpacker looking to avoid the madness and experience genuine comfort. The Celtic Cross is a home away from home and your only problem will be not wanting to leave.

Instead of just packing as many beds as we could into the hostel we decided to offer more services, with not 1 but 2 kitchens, a Spanish school (2 classrooms), dining area, a tv/common room with DVD player, a beauty salon, a patio and garden, ample bathrooms with hot showers, an outdoor living area and a roof terrace with stunning views of the city and surrounding mountains.

The rooms are spacious and of 4, 6 and 10 beds. We also offer double rooms (matrimonio). Each room opens onto or above the patio.

We have free Wi-Fi (sorry guys it sucks, this is Bolivia). We don´t have a bar but guests are free to enjoy themselves as they please as long as they are respectful of the hostel and its guests.

We want you to enjoy your stay as much as possible and our helpful and friendly staff will do all we can to ensure that this happens (as is the Irish way). Whether its Spanish classes, bars, restaurants, things to do or just a friend to talk to, we´ve got you covered.

The Spanish School: the school, like the hostel, is incredibly relaxed with super friendly teachers. You will be taught at your own pace and in a style that suits you. The owner has first hand experience of how it is to learn spanish in Sucre and has therefore created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere inside the hostel much more condusive to learning than that what is offered in the Spanish schools. An alternative method is applied here whereby the teachers, who are all native speakers with great English, are afforded the freedom to teach in the style that most suits the student and do not have to stick to a rigid curriculum. Students are actively encouraged to take classes outside of the classroom and experience the real world. Our teachers have been hand chosen by the owner and are quite simply the best in the city. Classes, therefore, sell out quickly.

We´re in a great location right in the center of town. Stuated on Calle Grau it’s just a short 3 or 4 minute direct walk to the main central plaza. In the opposite direction lies the mirador (lookout point) with the best views in the city, again just a short walk away.
