The Figures are an American Indie Rock group founded and fronted by singer/songwriter Sutton Gaddis. Backed by drummer, Eric George, The Figures formed in the small town of Mattapoisett, Massachusetts in the Spring of 2013. Their sound is an amalgamation of 1960’s and 1970’s Rock n’ Roll and current Indie Rock that is supported by vibrant vocal harmonies, powerfully layered instrumentation, and infectious melodies.
Founding member, main songwriter, and self-taught multi-instrumentalist Sutton Gaddis began his musical career in Fall of 2003 in Yorktown, Virginia, playing trumpet in the school band. Two years later, Sutton picked up the guitar and piano – only switching to bass guitar in 2009 two weeks before a performance with a Beatles Tribute band he founded that same year. After being accepted to Berklee College of Music, Sutton moved to Boston, MA in January 2013, where he later met drummer and singer, Eric George. Eric, a seasoned drummer from Bridgewater, MA, began playing drums and percussion in 2003. Originally training in Jazz Performance at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Bridgewater State University, Eric brings a diverse musical pallet to The Figures.
As a band, The Figures ambition is to draw from their many inspirations to create a unique, updated perspective and social commentary on life, death, love, loss, and personal struggle. They set out to electrify the minds and imaginations of their listeners by forming a bond between their audience and the music. To accomplish this, The Figures moved out of Boston, and rented a house in Mattapoisett, on the southern coast of Massachusetts. Total immersion in their craft was required to achieve this goal. They continue to hone their talents and find creative ways to express themselves as artists. [+]
