The Flying Salvias

I am half of the singer-songwriter duo, The Flying Salvias. I mainly sing at our shows, because I usually don't play instruments except to write. I come from a background spanning country, girl pop (The Rayons), heavy metal, blues rock, and gospel (Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir).

Henry Salvia (piano/voc) had many years in Detroit playing Top Forty, followed by California country with The Rounders/Billy Band, jump swing little-big-band Johnny Nocturne, and high octane Americana with Houston-Jones.

We don't write a lot of love songs. We do write about serious subjects, sometimes in a whimsical way. We utilize humor, and can also be downright depressing. If we had to pick a genre, it would be a hybrid: alt cabaret pop. [+]
