The Herd of Main Street have become favorites of fans young and old in Maryland and across the country. Fronted by Peter McKibben, whose blues harmonica skills have been compared to the late Paul Butterfield, the band crosses genres from blues to bluegrass, and have been called "Baltimore's modern-day version of The Band" by Fly Magazine. Other members include slide and pedal steel guitarist Gena McKibben, guitarist Corey Zook, bassist Kevin Alban and drummer Lance Smith. They boast an ability to craft music that sounds fresh and new, but feels like you've always known it. The Herd of Main Street have had three songs recognized on WTMD's 89 best songs of the year for 2013 and 2014 and are a staple of Baltimore's best music festivals, including Hot August Blues and Roots, Baltimore Folk Fest and Charm City Folk and Bluegrass Festival. Story songs, Delta blues, classic honky tonk, and southern rock influence their original, yet classic sound.
"Baltimore really gave birth to a great one here. The Herd of Main Street will have the crowd on their feet in no time and everyone is going to need a break afterwards" -Root Down in the Shadows
