The Persian Leaps

The Persian Leaps are indie rock/noise pop band from St. Paul, MN.

The Persian Leaps began with a phrase Drew Forsberg doodled in a notebook margin during a college Greek Archaeology course. The doodle was overwritten by stick figures and three-dimensional cubes, but the dream of a rock band named the Persian Leaps lived on for twenty-some years. In 2009, after 20 years of composing and recording songs in a vacuum, Drew formed a short-lived band named Small Engines with 2 friends and got a taste for live performance. In 2011, Drew got together with drummer Michael McCloskey and several other musicians to form the band that would become, after a name change and several line-up changes, the Persian Leaps.

The Persian Leaps play driving, chimey, atmospheric music that's influenced by bands from the 1980s and early 1990s such as the Chameleons, House of Love, My Bloody Valentine, the Church, early U2. Add in some catchy Guided By Voices crunch and you've got the Persian Leaps! We play short, catchy songs coated with divine guitar noise and vocal harmonies. [+]
