The Unamused Kraken

Cherylyn Geers, aka The Unamused Kraken, is instantly recognizable as a throwback to the heyday of hippies. Her original music draws comparisons to folk musicians of the 60s and 70s, like Joni Mitchell and James Taylor. Strong lyrics with captivating melodies sit on top of guitarwork that draws an increasing amount of inspiration from fingerstyle guitarists like Andy McKee and Jon Gomm. The most recent element of this evolving musical landscape is harmonica, which adds another timbre to her solo acoustic show. Her updated sound will be featured on her second album, "Songs for Roaming Vagabonds", which will be independently released later this year and accompanied by a 15-city tour. Her first album, “Starlight & Cicadas”, is available on Bandcamp, and since its release two years ago, The Unamused Kraken has been performing at open mics, as an opening act for touring artists, and at her own solo shows around Cincinnati and throughout the region, including during her first tour last fall.
