Third Party

Third Party is a musical group based out of Joplin, MO. Originally formed by percussionist/MC Mike Sullivan, singer/guitarist Patrick Beckett, and pianist/guitarist Jason Beckett in 2010, Third Party came to include Greg Walker on drums months later, and most recently Kelly Maddy on bass in the winter of 2011. In January 2012, their DIY Earworm EP was recorded and engineered by friend Caleb Clayton, a producer who works for Mr. Hudson’s studio in London, England. In January 2013 they released their first studio EP, Inertia, recorded at Zombie Life studios with engineer Jerrod Naff. It is a collection of 5 songs that flow seamlessly into one another, each a different taste of the band’s eclectic music. Third Party is now playing shows throughout the Midwest to support the EP, and is planning a small summer tour. A full length album is in the works, with extensive collaborations with local artists to support the album with a variety of art and media.

Fans and new listeners may often hear the phrase “slug life” or “slug baby” thrown around by the band. Slug life can be defined as the collection of habits, thoughts and motions of a particular species of slug. A few defining features of this creature are a consistent need to groove and seek new sonic landscapes. Third Party tries to craft digestible, experimental songs that lend themselves to reinterpretation during live performances. Not limited to any genre, Third Party plays genuine sounds, to stay in tune with themselves, their fans and that great, burning star in the sky.
