Toni Thorne

Toni Thorne is a 26 year old award-winning young entrepreneur and National Youth Awardee. Toni is a graduate of the University of the West Indies with a BSc. Economics and Accounting (Hons). At present, she is enrolled with the University of London pursuing a degree in Law. She has qualified for World Debating Championships, was the first person of African or Caribbean descent to sit on the Global Youth Leader’s Summit in Prague, Budapest and Vienna and has been employed and trained within the energy trading industry. Toni is respected within the local and regional artistic community- travelling to represent Barbados in various aspects of culture. Her first business, BoUiK, has been featured in every major regional publication and fashion production as well as international publications such as the London Times. Founder of Martha's Smile, a charity catering to HIV infected children in Jamaica, she has also been involved in the creative direction and production of various local and regional projects. She is a member of the cast for the LIVEUP sponsored HIV and AIDS television series Secrets, which is broadcast in over 40 countries. In 2012, Toni represented Barbados as a member of the cultural contingent to the Shanghai Expo with the Barbados Tourism Authority. Toni is the Creative Director for Island Fusion Foreday Morning band, Managing Director of Settlers West Coast Experience and publisher of Pompasette Magazine. Ms. Thorne has been drafted to revamp and revitalize the Holetown Festival. She also works as a volunteer and consultant with the Barbados Chamber of Commerce’s Bridgetown Alive Initiative, started the hashtag betterbim and has been an external coordinator with the National Cultural Foundation.
