Limerick is a pretty city known for its Georgian townhouses and its picturesque location on the River Shannon which has with four main crossing points near the city centre. It has many historical buildings that date back to medieval times and is a major city in the Republic of Ireland, set in the province of Munster. Some of the City's landmarks include St. Mary’s Cathedral, St. John’s square, and King John’s Castle dating back to the 13th-century. In 2014, Limerick became Ireland's inaugural National City of Culture, and celebrated a wide variety of artistic and cultural events occurring at various locations around the city to promote its new status.
