Udesh Fernando

Udesh Fernando is a young and energetic, talented individual who currently works with the premiere National Think Tank in Sri Lanka- the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute for International Relations and Strategic Studies. As an Undergraduate in Bsc. International Relations of the University of London, his interests are Foreign Policy, Complex Emergencies and Humanitarian Responses, cultural studies, diplomacy and international law. He is currently engaged in research papers assigned by the National Think Tank.His passion to contribute to the national reconciliation process through the National Think Tank voluntarily is significant. His key goal is to contribute to the national reconciliation process in Sri Lanka in her revival after 30 years of civil war. He is keen to unite the ethnically divided communities in Sri Lanka by contributing through research and organizing national reconciliation events held at the National Think Tank.Udesh was part of an International Catholic Charismatic Movement. He was a Coordinator in the movement in Sri Lanka, committing one year and volunteering in Sri Lanka as a youth leader, Youth Animator conducting ,animating, guiding and envisioning the goals of the movement at a national level for Catholic youth. He has represented Sri Lanka in many international events. He has also volunteered three years teaching students who lacks resources and live in poverty. He had also taken leadership in Student Welfare and social service activities, and was a favorite among them.His future goals are to establish a movement to help the children who lacks means and resources for education and to start a vibrant youth initiative to gather youth who are willing to voluntarily engage in such activities for the needy, especially in the North and East who witnessed the atrocious civil war. His goals are to continue his academia in International relations and to represent Sri Lanka as a career diplomat in the global sphere contributing for a harmonious world. [+]
