THE UT.LAB has a passion for science, and it is the thread that ties every element of their company, culture, and brand together. The founders like to say, “We create awesome shoes so we can change the world.” Changing the world starts with empowering today’s children, tomorrow’s leaders, by giving them access to rock star educators.
THE UT.LAB launched globally in the Summer of 2013 on Kickstarter.com, the most influential crowdfunding site in the world. In three weeks THE UT.LAB sold out of their limited edition Light Wing Trainer: PENCIL.
It was from there that the original collection was designed, tested, and released. The new Light Wing collection now includes 3 styles, The Trainer, The Franklin, and The Ninja, across 15 colors, in sizes for both men and women.
The Light Wing series is focused on using the most advanced materials to create some of the lightest and most comfortable casual shoes on the planet. With a TYVEK upper (a paper-like material that has incredible strength and water resistant properties made by DUPONT), THE UT.LAB has an unending number of colors and patterns it can print. Combining that with EVA foam rubber outsoles, you get the benefit of the same comfort and light weight structure of your favorite running shoes.
Are you a designer, a maker, a tinkerer, and engineer, a programmer, or just really dig awesome design and comfortable shoes? Then THE UT.LAB is the shoe for you.
Co-founder Shaun Nath has said, “We like to think back to the days when we all wanted to be astronauts and fly to the moon. That’s when science was cool. We still think it is. Our passion to use cutting edge technologies to make simple things like shoes more simple and technically efficient, is what drives us to help today's children, tomorrow's leaders, to develop the same interests and passions of our team.” [+]
