Valerie McConnell

Since beginning at Jones Day, Valerie McConnell has developed experience in complex litigation and has been a team member on bench and jury trials throughout the country. Most recently, Valerie worked on Jones Day's defense of the Engle progeny smoking and health suits brought against R.J. Reynolds in Florida and was a member of the Bryant v. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. trial team, which resulted in a complete defense verdict for Reynolds. Valerie also has experience in a broad range of other litigation matters, including toxic tort defense, white collar criminal investigations, intellectual property disputes, contractual disputes, antitrust disputes, and construction litigation. Valerie's experience covers all stages of the litigation process, including drafting and arguing motions, preparing expert witnesses, taking and defending depositions, and post-trial briefing.

Valerie is also active in the Firm's pro bono practice. She represents victims of domestic violence in conjunction with the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County and disabled veterans in conjunction with Swords to Plowshares. [1]
