Vallformosa Cava Brut Origen

Vallformosa was established in 1865 and is managed by the 5th generation of the Domenech family. Each generation has added to the success of the company - the first and second generation farmed the land, the third introduced bottling; and the fourth generation developed the cava method. The vineyards in Penedes are located between the Mediterranean Sea and the Catalan coastal mountain range and are planted to traditional white varieties Parellada, Xarel-lo and Macebeo as well as red varietals Tempranillo, Garancha, Samso and Monastrell. In total, 981 acres of vineyards are planted in Penedes and Rioja. The grapes are harvested by hand and by machine. Vallformosa Cava is produced using the traditional method and the wine is aged for 12-15 months on its lees. The Domenech family and Vallformosa are actively involved with cancer research through the Catalan Oncology Institution Foundation. [+]
