Vanessa Geffrard is Senior Director of Education and Training for Planned Parenthood of Maryland (PPM). She trains and educates adults, parents, and community groups around sexual health topics such as consent, sexually transmitted infection prevention, contraceptive methods, teen pregnancy, abortion stigma, healthy relationships, and LGBTQ inclusion.
At PPM, she created the Clippers and Curlers initiative, established to educate and empower African American clients and staff of Baltimore-based hair salons and barbershops on topics of sexual health, sexually transmitted infections, and HIV. The project’s goal is to provide sexual health education, reduce stigma related to HIV/STIs, and link participants to health care services.
Geffrard was recently chosen as a Global Youth Ambassador for Planned Parenthood Global, where she worked in Nigeria and Kenya.
Geffrard earned a Bachelor of Science in community health from University of Maryland, College Park and a Master of Public Health from Morgan State University. [+]
