Vijay Amritraj

Sickly as a boy growing up in India, Vijay Amritaj was urged to take up a sport to improve his health. He chose tennis and went on to become one of the world’s premier tennis players. His tennis accomplishments include being ranked the Number 1 Asian player and one of the top ten players in the world. He earned the honours of playing for the Davis Cup team for 20 straight years and of competing in Wimbledon for 17 straight years. Among the top players Amritaj defeated are Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Ivan Lendl, John Newcombe, and Stan Smith. [+]
