Villa Jaama's rich history and gorgeous Jugendstil architecture combined with our great service and location will be one of the most unforgettable and luxurious experiences you can have in Tartu.
Built in 1914 in the fashionable theater district (home of Estonia’s first theater Vanemeuine now the singing revolution museum and near the new National Museum) by the famed architect Kangro for one of Tartu's famed industrialists Jaan Riomaar. The house also served as an underground church during the soviet time. The Villa was later redesigned and decorated by the controversial Andrus Bergman who added a five car garage and turned the Villa into the headquarters for the first private bank and insurance company in Estonia complete with bullet proof doors, 14 foot ceilings, hand painted tiles, with all surfaces covered in granite or marble and gold trim. He also installed the first indoor private swimming pool and sauna. He was later arrested for embezzling and now what was exclusive and private is now open to the public as a boutique hostel for the discerning customer.
The Villa is located in quiet residential area a few minutes walk from city center and the best restaurant and nightlife and is two blocks from museum mile leading to National Museum, Song Festival Museum, and Adventure park. We feature free wifi throughout, brand new beds and bedding, dorms, singles and doubles, ping pong, grilling, full kitchen, sauna and swim in future, covered parking, children’s play area and beautiful gardens.
